In this activity, the students will discover how electricity is generated and transmitted. After an introduction that illustrates the social and technological importance of hydroelectricity in Québec, the students will be asked to describe the operation of an electric generator that uses the phenomenon of electromagnetic induction, based on a simple model. Then they will have to explain why it is more beneficial to transmit electricity over vast distances using high-voltage lines. Finally, the students will describe the transformer and learn how it works
